Ok, so, I'm thinking of listing some handmade items for sale. (Doll cloaks! Yeay, finally. And perhaps a Christmas dress, if I feel like parting with it). Rather than doing e-bay, I'd like just to create a page with the pictures and price, and have people e-mail me with the orders.
I've noticed on this board, people regularly sell things without the help of e-bay, eg, by listing it on the board and having someone PM them. How does that usually work? Could I use paypal to get paid, even if I'm not selling on E-Bay? How?
Also, someone once posted a link from E-Bay regarding their fees and the posting process, I would greatly appreciate if they could post it again.
Thanks, guys!

Well, to begin with;
Paypal can be used for lots of things- not just ebay... you can use it for buying from american girl, just paying someone... all that stuff!
People can log into paypal and select"send money to someone" and enter the amount and who they'd like it to go to. THen the money arrives in your account and you can spend it as you like.
Does that help?
PS they need an email addy to send payment to tho!

When I sell online I say I prefer paypal, but I also take personal checks. I've been selling online way before the days of paypal. (But never on ebay...)
I'm jealous that you are able to sew doll clothes. I've gotten quite good at sewing them, but am unable to make my own patterns, so I can't sell yet.
Someday I will learn how to draft patterns, and not have to use commercial ones
Good luck with your sales.

I've been cleaning out the 'extras' that my DD an I have this fall and have listed items for sale on the Board a few times. I've sold approximately 1/4 of the items I have had for sale to board members and the rest have gone up for sale on ebay. I'm not a person who sells often I just had built up a bunch of extra stuff that we didn't really need mostly by purchasing larger lots of items. I've also purchased several items from Board members and I always appreciate being able to buy things without the stress of an auction. Anyway, it's really easy for people to pay you via paypal if both of you have accounts. If you go to www.paypal.com and sign in you can select the 'send money' option and send the amount to the seller's paypal id. Hopefully this information helps and good luck with your sales! - Meg B.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot! I figured it would be something similar
Skittl - have you tried? If I were you, I'd look at dolls and clothes patterns from the fifties - an awful lot just consist of rectangles, etc. Sometimes I look at patterns and think, "They could have simplified this a lot, but they wanted people to think it was hard." It helps that my mom was a professional seamstress who made all of her own designs and patterns. I'm not nearly as good as her, but when I was a little girl she taught me a lot. Now that I'm older and interested in sewing, she's really excited and helps me figure things out whenever I reach a kink in the pattern making process. I get a lot of good hints from her
